Question 2:

Are greeting cards obsolete?

Of course not!  While people are sending fewer cards and letters, especially handwritten ones, making any you get from friends or loved ones even more precious.  Or the ones you send more precious.  Be a rebel in this digital and distant age.

Here’s a tip when you are traveling: often the little stationery shops have unique greeting cards of the local area.

Question 5:

Is there any reason to keep old greeting cards?

Yes!  There are reasons to keep your old greeting cards.

Does the card have a message you needed to hear when you got it?  Review it every once in a while – we all need reminders.

Has the person who sent you the card passed on?  You may want to keep the card since you will never get another one from them again.

Now, if the greeting cards are only signed on the inside, but without a special message – feel free to toss them.  Reduce the clutter in your house by tossing unsentimental cards.

Question 6:

Where do you write inside a greeting card?

Well, you can sign your name on the inside right-hand side of the card under the pre-printed message.  However, a little extra effort with a personal message from you on the inside of the card is even better!  It doesn’t need to be long, a few sentences will do, and means so much more to the person receiving the greeting card from you.

Don’t know what to write? Pretend the person is in front of you and a captive audience – what do you want to tell them? Do you want to catch them up on some of the events in your life? Or ask them questions about their life? Is there a funny story you want to share to get them to at least smile, if not laugh out loud? Do you want to give them a word of encouragement if they are struggling (and we’re all struggling these days, it seems)?

Question 7:

How do you end a greeting card?

You can sign your name. Or if a loved one, use the timeless Love, your name. If a friend, pull out some humor or keep it simple and sign Your Friend, your name. You can use a word from another language to imitate the above, but different.
